Adam Wilson, PhD, University of New Mexico

Adam Wilson graduated from Cornell University in 1998 and earned a Masters in Counseling and Psychological Services from SUNY Oswego in 2014. During his Masters he worked as a research assistant at the Syracuse VA in the primary care mental health integration center for excellence, and as a substance use disorders counselor at Crouse Hospital.

Adam entered the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of New Mexico in 2014. His research at UNM has developed, broadly, along four intersecting lines of inquiry: 1) substance use trajectories and the clinical course of substance use disorders; 2) the biopsychosocial conceptualization and assessment of SUD recovery; 3) advanced quantitative methodology; and 4) clinical trials and treatment research. Adam’s current research interests include machine learning approaches to modeling human behavior, implementation of mindfulness-based interventions, and exercise-induced changes to levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor among those recovering from addictive behaviors.

Adam is currently a Postdoctoral Resident at Kaiser Permanente Northern California, Addiction Medicine & Recovery Services, South East Bay Consortium, Fremont, CA.
